PUNTA GORDA (SNN-TV) – Hurricane Idalia made its impact on the Suncoast, but the impact did not fully wipe out Friday Football Fever. With plenty of games still on tap, we highlight a top rivalry, in the Your Farm and Garden Game of the Week.

The Peace River Rivalry will ensue once again tomorrow night at the Fish Bowl in Punta Gorda, as the Charlotte Fightin‘ Tarpons will host the Port Charlotte Pirates, with kickoff set for 7pm.

Both teams enter tomorrow’s matchup 0-1 to start the season. Jordan Ingman’s Pirates kickstarted their season with a tough 56-21 loss in Fort Myers to Bishop Verot, while Cory Mentzer’s Tarpons also traveled to Fort Myers, only to be shutout by Dunbar 34-0.

Last season, Port Charlotte dominated the Tarpons at home by a final of 41-14, breaking the chain of two straight losses to Charlotte in back-to-back seasons. Of the last ten meetings, Charlotte High has maintained control, winning 7-of-10.

Each team aims to right their wrongs from last week, as Port Charlotte’s defense looks to answer the call against their county rival, after allowing 8 touchdowns on 570 total yards in Week 1. Whereas, Charlotte hopes the offense comes alive, looking for positive yardage, coming off being in the whole last week for -16 yards.

Kickoff from the Fish Bowl in Punta Gorda is set for 7pm.
