CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla (SNN TV) – A local nonprofit faces a Tuesday deadline to raise $17,050 for a Charlotte County habitat for scrub jays.

In the past two months, the Environmental Conservancy of North Port purchased or received donations of 32 parcels for wildlife habitat in Sarasota and Charlotte Counties.

The Herald-Tribune reports the local conservancy’s current fundraiser needs to raise the money by Dec. 26 to purchase four lots in Harbour Heights for the Florida Scrub-Jay, along with gopher tortoises and other species.

The $17,050 will cover Lots 17 and 18 in Middle Terrace for $8,775 and Lots 20 and 2 off Dumont Drive for $8,275.
