VENICE, Fla. (SNN TV) – It just wasn’t to be.

The Venice High Indians lost in their rematch to Lakeland High in the Class 4S title game in Tallahassee.

The Herald-Tribune reports the football team turned the ball over five times.

While Venice had went 12 games since their last loss on Sept. 1, the same turnover problems from that game resurfaced Saturday night.

The Lakeland High football team picked off four passes and returned one for a touchdown in a 60-48 win over Venice.

It was the second straight year the Dreadnaughts defeated the Indians in the championship game. Last year it was 21-14 in Fort Lauderdale.
