LOUISVILLE, KY (SNN-TV) – Per the Louisville Sports Commission, former Palmetto High standout and current Florida Atlantic WR LaJohntay Wester, as well as former Sarasota Sailor star and current Auburn RB Brian Battie, have been named to the preseason watch list for the 2023 Paul Hornung Award.
This award is presented yearly to the most versatile player in college football in honor of the multi-positioned NFL Hall of Famer Paul Hornung. Wester and Battie are among 53 players named to this year’s watch list.
Wester recorded 719 yards and eight touchdowns in 2022, and contributed 106 rushing yards as well, while also serving as FAU’s sole punt returner. As for Battie, he earned All-America honors as a kick returner in 2021 and rushed for nearly 1.200 yards last season.
Previous winners of the Paul Hornung Award include DeVonta Smith, Saquon Barkley, Christian McCaffrey, and Odell Beckham Jr.
