VENICE (SNN-TV) – Week 6 of the high school football season boasts a wealth of great matchups, but our Game of the Week features two bitter rivals in a game the Suncoast looks forward to every year.

Tomorrow night at Powell-Davis Stadium the 2-2 Venice Indians will host the 3-1 Riverview Rams in a highlight anticipated, heavyweight bout. Both teams enter tomorrow’s game having strung together back-to-back victories.

Venice started the season 0-2 with losses to Armwood and Cocoa but bounced back with dominant wins over Miami Northwestern and River Ridge in consecutive weeks. As for Riverview, they started the year 1-1, splitting matchups with Southeast and Buchholz, but responded with wins over Palmetto and Cardinal Mooney. The Rams also enter tomorrow’s game with an extra week of preparation with their last game taking place back on the 14th.

The underlying story here, is former Ram and Florida State commit Charles Lester III taking on his former team for the first time since transferring to Venice. The same could be said for Riverview’s Swiss-Army knife, Anthony Miller, once a backup QB for the Indians.

Of their last 19 meetings, Venice leads the series with 15 wins to Riverview’s 4, with the last Rams win coming back in 2019. Kickoff tomorrow from Venice is set for 7:30pm.
