TALLAHASSEE (SNN-TV) – The Cardinal Mooney Cougars were playing for their first state title since 1972, on the very day that they won it all 51 years ago.

With less than a minute to go, quarterback Michael Valentino hit a wide open Chris McCorkle with 47 seconds left that lifted Cardinal Mooney to a thrilling, 31-27, victory over Trinity Catholic. McCorkle also came down with the game sealing interception on the hail-mary heave by Trinity Catholic in the games final moments.

Valentino and Devin Mignery both split time under center again today, but with Valentino shining bright late, while Teddy Foster and McCorkle accounted for 3 receiving TD’s, with Carson Beach adding a touchdown run of his own.

The Cougars cap off their season in the biggest of ways as champions, while finishing 12-2.
