SARASOTA (SNN-TV) –  Tonight was the night for Venice High School, 5-star defensive back Charles Lester III, as he took his next step in the game of football, committing to either Florida State, Colorado, Georgia, or Alabama.

Surrounded by friends, family and teammates, at the Robert L Taylor Complex ,Charles Lester III announced his commitment to Florida State University, joining Mike Norvell’s 2024 class. While the likelihood of this was high, the late push by Colorado intrigued many, but the 19th ranked player in the country stays in the Sunshine State, heading to Tallahassee.

After taking nine visits to Florida State’s campus, CL3 routinely stated throughout the recruiting process that FSU was his dream school, and now those dreams will come true. Lester becomes FSU’s top committed recruit in this class, and is the second five-star prospect to choose the ‘Noles.

In his junior year campaign at Riverview, Lester had 18 tackles and one interception. On offense, he had 354 receiving yards off 34 receptions, and four touchdowns. Lester‘s commitment can become official on Dec. 21st if he decides to sign his letter of intent on the early signing date.

But before then, Lester will first see the field as an Indian on August 18th in Venice’s Kickoff Classic against Tampa Bay Tech.
