SARASOTA – This week in video games, we talk about two recent releases that have Ringling Professor Martin Murphy and SNN’s Marco La Manno excited.

Microsoft Flight Simulator, which released on PC last year, recently released for the Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X, both consoles available for $299 and $499, respectively, with the Series X sporting a disc drive and more powerful hardware.

In it, you can soar across the world as the game used power from what’s called cloud computing to create a digital replica of the globe. This means, as Professor Murphy shows us on video, you can soar over the Suncoast, over your neighborhood, or school, or work, in this game. Professor Murphy says it’s a perfect game for when you want to explore and enjoy the world while cooped up during the COVID pandemic.

The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles features two games originally only released in Japan in 2015 and 2017. This takes place before the original Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney games, set in Victorian-era Britain and Japan. If you’re unfamiliar with the series, you play a defense attorney who defends people falsely accused of crimes, typically murder. Your job is to find inconsistencies in testimony and find the true culprit. Characters are colorful and memorable, and in these two cases, you have 10 cases to break down. The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles is available on the Sony Playstation 4 (which can also be played on Playstation 5), Nintendo Switch, and PC.
