SARASOTA – After the local National Weather Service (NWS) office calculated the numbers locally, and after NOAA calculated the numbers worldwide, we can say June 2020 was sizzling. More than normal.

A couple of the most notable anomalies occurred in Finland and north of the Arctic circle.
Locally, the Suncoast experienced an abnormally warm June as well. SRQ recorded its 5th warmest June.
More than half the month saw temperatures at or above 90°F even though 80s are typically more prevalent. The overnight lows, however, saw the biggest jump from the average. We tied records for our warmest lows on June 9, 25, and 30, and broke a record for our warmest low on June 8. The previous record that day was 78°F set in 2010.
