SARASOTA – This Sunday WWE Superstars will compete in the epic Royal Rumble match, and in the more than 30 years that the men have competed in this type of match.

It’s the women of the WWE who are breaking barriers in their 4th annual Rumble match.

Since 1988 the Royal Rumble has signified the official start of the Road to WrestleMania. In the past 33 years the men have competed in the signature Royal Rumble match, where the winner gets a shot the champion of their choosing in the main event match at WrestleMania.

Of those 33 Royal Rumble matches the women have competed in only three thus far.

“To be part of the PPV and then to be part of the Royal Rumble match itself so exciting for me,” said Peyton Royce. “The fan in me is still fangirling out.”

WWE Superstar Peyton Royce will be competing in her second Royal Rumble match this year. But before the current women’s division could even fathom competing in their own Royal Rumble match.

Superstars like Kharma, Nia Jax and WWE Hall of Famers Beth Phoenix the Glamazon and the Ninth Wonder of the World Chyna broke the barriers by being the only four women to step into the ring and go toe-to-toe with the men.

In a ring full of 29 other competitors Royce says she hopes she can go head-to-head with some of the women who have influenced her career.

“Mickie James and Trish Stratus were two women who influenced me so much growing up as a fan,” said Royce. “I had one interaction with Mickie – gosh I must’ve been 14-years-old or something like that.”

In this Sundays rumble match it’s every woman for herself. Meaning Royce won’t be able to rely on her real-life best friend and fellow WWE Superstar Billie Kay to get the win.

“And she wrote in my program meet me in the ring one day. And so I think that could be a possibility this weekend.”

And winning big at the grandest stage of them all WrestleMania is something Royce knows all to well. Having captured the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships alongside her IIconic partner Billie Kay.

Fulfilling a lifelong dream of the two Aussies.

Royce says no other victory will top winning the Women’s Tag Team Champions, but she has her eyes set on this Sunday and hopes to earn a Women’s Championship match and cross another dream of her bucket list and that would simply be IICONIC.

The Royal Rumble PPV starts at 7 p.m. eastern time with their kickoff show starting at 6 p.m. prior to the main card.
