CHICAGO (SNN-TV) – “I am forever grateful.” The words of U.S. women’s soccer legend, Carli Lloyd, as she steps back from her career on the field.

Lloyd is known as one of the most influential soccer players on the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team, with 128 goals. The 39-year-old ends an historic career that started in 2005. She appeared for the USA across three decades, in four world cups and four Olympic Games.

But Lloyd isn’t done just yet, she will close out her career with four matches, two in September and two in October. In the announcement from the team, Lloyd says she is looking forward to spending more time with her family.
