SARASOTA, Fla. (SNN TV) – A local theatre troupe is helping for a fourth time to promote black-led and black-benefiting organizations.

The Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe said in a news release it’s once again participating in “Give 8/28.” The organization says it’s the only national giving event dedicated to giving back to black nonprofits.

WBTT says August 28 is significant — it coincides with the murder of Emmett Till, Dr. King’s “I Have a Dream” speech, the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, and then-Senator Barack Obama’s acceptance of the Democratic Party’s nomination for president.

WBTT’s goal is $15,000.
