TAMPA (SNN-TV) – Earlier today USF introduced their new head football coach in former Tennessee offensive coordinator, Alex Golesh.

USF announced the hiring over Golesh over the weekend, after other perspective candidates landed at other schools. Golesh will be the sixth head coach in South Florida football history. He replaces Jeff Scott, who was fired on Nov. 6. Golesh is the sixth head coach in the school’s football history.

Golesh‘s college coaching career started at Ohio State as a coaching assistant in 2004. He worked for eight different college programs, including Central Florida, where he was the co-offensive coordinator and tight end’s coach. He spent the last two seasons as the offensive coordinator at the University of Tennessee. This season, the Vol’s scored a school record of 568 points and was the nation’s top offense.

“In the last 48 hours since I’ve stepped foot in Tampa, not only is it aligned, but everybody loves each other, everybody shares the same vision, everybody has a passion for people and winning. It’s quite incredible. It’s not like that everywhere, but that’s why the growth that’s been here, has happened the way its happened. So, I appreciate you guys giving me a shot to go do this the right way.”

Golesh will get right to work, as last week; South Florida ended its season with a 46-39 loss to rival UCF.
