VENICE (SNN TV) – It’s still unclear what will happen to one waterfront restaurant in Venice.

Pictures from Snook Haven’s Facebook page from October 4th show severe flooding due to the high water levels in the Myakka River.

The Herald-Tribune reports there are around 10 months left in the lease with Venice Pier Group to operate the restaurant and concessions. After that, Sarasota County was going to replace the existing restaurant with a new 1,500 square foot food concession building and an open-air pavilion.

The county says it’s not safe yet to evaluate the property. Snook Haven employees are currently working at its sister restaurants — Sharky’s On The Pier, Fins At Sharky’s, and Siesta Beach Eats.

Snook Haven served as a movie set and bootlegger outpost in the 1930s. It opened as a fish camp in 1948. The current restaurant building dates back to 1958.
