MANATEE – The Manatee Children’s Services, a child advocacy center helping neglected kids be reminded that they matter.

President of the Manatee Children’s Services  Chief William Tokajer says they had to cancel all of their fundraisers for the remainder of year due to COVID-19. Meaning the nonprofit would not receive any funding for their various programs to help kids in need.

But the Suncoast Blood Center stepped in to save the day donating funds raised at a their blood drive on Sunday blood drive. Along with an anonymous donor that matched $100 for every donation made.

“This shows that we have people out here in the community that know the needs that we have as a charity organization. That are willing to step up and they know that the blood is needed, they know that the organization charities need help, and they’re willing to partner with us,” said Chief Tokajer. “They did it anonymously they don’t want the recognition. They just want to help our kids and to help their community.

The blood drive was held over course of two days in both Sarasota & Manatee Counties. Officials with the Manatee Children’s Services are still counting all the funds donated.
