LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. (SNN TV) – The new Trader Joe’s finished its hiring fair today.
The Captain for the new Lakewood Ranch Trader Joe’s, Abe Desta, said they’ve hired 65 crew members so far and are looking to hire about 20 more by the end of today.
The crew members were hired on the spot after two interviews. The vast majority of the employees who will work at the new location will be new hires as opposed to transfers from other Trader Joe’s.
“We expect about 10 to 15 percent of our crew force will be just a transfer. But I’d say about 90 percent of the crew here will be new hires from the neighborhood,” said Desta. Some of the transfers are coming from stores in Sarasota, St. Pete, and Fort Myers.
Desta said they’re still tracking to open “on time.” While they’re not ready to disclose the specific date, he said it’ll open by the end of the year.
The new Trader Joe’s will be at 8111 Cooper Creek Boulevard by the Ross, T.J. Maxx, and Valentino Pizzeria at University Town Center.
