SARASOTA – The Suncoast Blood Centers is still in need of convalescent plasma donations.

Director of Community Development, Jayne Giroux, says they’re asking the Suncoast to donate if you have recovered from the coronavirus.

She says they can only take those who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and received documented lab test.

If you never got tested, they’re working on getting the serological testing that tests for antibodies.

“We started last week and we’ve had about half-a-dozen donors,” Giroux said. “And, the great thing about plasma donation is that one donor can yield up to four doses of the convalescent plasma, that’s so desperately needed right now.”

They have sent plasma to hospitals. Giroux says they are still waiting on to hear about usage data usage. are now waiting on a response to see how patients are recovering. Stay with SNN for the update.

Also, they are in need of platelet donations. It’s what helps treat cancer. And it only last for five days.
