SARASOTA – A Sarasota pathologist says the power of positivity can go a long way during this coronavirus pandemic.

Dr. David Durand is an anatomic and clinical pathologist who helps patients bolster their immune system through their thoughts.

He says during a time when you need your immune system to be at it’s best, it’s important not to let stress take over.

Stress lowers your immune system.

“If you have fear, though, it stimulates the stress response,” Dr. Durand said. “It raises your heart rate and it raises your breathing rate. That hinders your immune system.”

Dr. Durand says a prayer, mediation, and positive thoughts help. It’s important to watch your consciousness

“If you get the virus, don’t worry, it’s not going to help you,” Dr. Durand. said. “Express your will and say, ‘I can live, I will live.’ You know, just to affirm those positive thoughts, because you will keep you alive more than anything else.”

He says staying indoors and taking your vitamins will help keep you healthy. But, your will is one of the most powerful weapons against the virus.
