SARASOTA – The Players Centre for Performing Art, signature fundraiser is back but this time audiences can watch from the comfort of their own home.

The annual fundraiser “Got a Minute” was started back in 2006 and for the first time it will be held virtually.

Managing Artistic Director of the Player, Jeffery Kin started the event to raise money for breast cancer research after his own mothers’ diagnosis. Kin says the arts community in Sarasota has been significantly impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

He says he hopes the fundraiser can bring a positive take on battling cancer through humor with each one-minute play.

“The plays that we’ve gotten in are again, soup to nuts, A-Z. Some funny, some zany, there’s aliens, people fighting over bed spreads,” said Kin. “But then there’s this underline feeling of overcoming adversity, and usually overcoming adversity through humor.”

The fundraiser will broadcast through The Players Centre Facebook page starting at 7:30 p.m. All proceed will be donated to the American Cancer Society.
