SARASOTA – For the last three years SarasotaOUT.com has recognized “the people and places that positively impact Sarasota’s LGBTQ community” with their annual OUT Awards.

But COVID wasn’t the reason this event was postpones. Sunday was the big day for those looking to attend the 4th annual OUT Awards, but due to inclement weather the event has been postponed for this weekend.

Founder of SarasotaOUT.com Joshua Beadle made the announcement on Facebook. In the post Beadle writes “Due to rain we have to move the awards to next weekend. We are looking forward to seeing everyone on the [October] 11th.”

Beadle says planning an event in the midst of a pandemic can be challenging. He notes CDC guidelines will still be followed at the event. The Reserve SRQ outside venue is why Beadle says he chose it for the event, which he describes as the “Academy Awards of Sarasota’s LGBTQ community.”

The voting period has ended as all the winners have been chosen already, and all tickets for the event have been sold out. The award ceremony will still be held at the Reserve SRQ and hosted by Beneva Fruitville.

The awards ceremony starts at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Beadle says having an extra week of planning has opened the possibility to broadcasting the ceremony digitally for those who can’t make it in person.
