SARASOTA (WSNN) – Gym SRQ hosts the first running of the American Kettlebell Alliance’s first Florida Open Championship, Saturday.

This is the first Championship since COVID-19 shut everything down last March.

There were 15 participants in Saturday’s event. Competitors from near and far came down to the Suncoast for this championship. We have people from  Seattle, New York, and even Sarasota.

“It’s so nice to have locals and visitors finally coming together because that’s what we are all about at GYM SRQ; Locals and visitors to be their favorite place,” Gym SRQ Managing Partner, Sohni Epp said. “So to host a national championship here, it’s so fun, it’s so fun!”

Next Saturday, March 6th, the gym is hosting a kettlebell training session. The Alliance’s founder, Yuri Petunovs, is hosting a three-hour workshop focusing on hands-on instruction, program design, and technical practice.

There are plans for a larger event of more than 400 people to happen next year.
