TORONTO, CAN (SNN-TV) – Few swimmers have put together a meet like Summer McIntosh this past week at the Bell Canadian Trials. Representing the Sarasota Sharks, the 16-year old McIntosh blazed a trail to five world records while in Toronto.

The Canadian phenom has now taken down eight world junior records in the past month with three coming at the Pro Swim Series stop in Fort Lauderdale, in the 200 fly, 200 free, and 200 individual Medley, and five coming this week. McIntosh crushed world records in the 400 free and 400 individual medley, while also adding world junior records in the 200 individual medley, 200 fly, and 200 free.

McIntosh is one of many Sharks making waves in the swimming world in recent memory. CEO and head coach of the Sarasota Sharks, Brent Arckey sheds light on why his swimmers take their place among the elite.

“Good culture. We got a great coaching staff that’s been here for a long time. People that want to work hard, people that support each other, and athletes that want to try to be the best they possibly can. That’s kind of been our culture. We try to take care of people, that’s the goal. If people are happy they’re going to swim fast.” – Coach Brent Arckey

Following her record week, McIntosh joins a roster of 31 pool swimmers for the upcoming World Aquatics Championships. The meet will be held from July 23rd – July 30th in Fukuoka, Japan.
