SARASOTA – Streets of Paradise, a nonprofit group aiming to raise awareness of the reality of being homeless in the Suncoast, hosted their monthly event at Five Point Park.

Volunteers cooked homemade nutritious food to hand out to those in need – as well as hygiene products.

More than two dozen people showed up to receive a warm free meal and clothes. Co-Founder of Street of Paradise, Greg Cruz says it’s important to always give to those in need all year round.

“We all have stuff that we’re not using that we haven’t used in months that’s just taking up space, stuff in your closest clothing you haven’t used that you know you’re not gonna use. To someone who’s just been re-homed to be able to have that couch or that coffee table it means a lot so why not declutter your house a little bit, let it go to a good cause,” Cruz said.

Streets of Paradise also hosts a potluck dinner every Thursday night near the Salvation Army in Sarasota around 7:30 p.m.
