BRADENTON (SNN-TV) – State College of Florida announced a suspension of its men’s basketball program for the 2023-2024 season.

The Manatees lost their head basketball coach, Tom Parks, last month when it was announced he was returning to his home state of Wyoming to coach at Casper College. Parks was named SCF’s head coach in June 2018 and won 72 games in five seasons, after the Manatees had only won 22 games in the five seasons prior.

The SCF athletic department put out the following tweet detailing the reasoning behind the suspension earlier today:

The other five collegiate programs: baseball, softball, women’s volleyball, women’s tennis and women’s beach volleyball are not impacted and will operate as planned for the 2023-24 season.
