Spin City Arcade shutdown for illegal gambling, sheriff’s office says
SARASOTA, Fla. (SNN) – The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office has shut down Spin City Arcade, in a continuing effort to rid Manatee County of illegal gambling establishments.
Strategic Unit detectives along with agents from the Florida Gaming Control Commission made entry to the business with a search warrant yesterday and seized equipment and cash.
“This is the second time, in two months, where we had to shut a business down the hard way. That is the decision that these business owners made. They’re running illegal gambling operations. They know they’re doing that, but they decided to leave their businesses open. They took a gamble, and they lost,” said Manatee County Sheriff’s Office PIO Randy Warren.
The first gambling location that was shut down was called Sizzling Sam’s Arcade. The two gambling locations were just a block apart.
Warren says the owners of the two business locations could face up to five years in prison. He also says there could be a fine of about $10,000 per machine.
Warren says if you see suspicious activity, feel free to contact the Sheriff’s Office.
