SARASOTA (SNN-TV) – Tuesday night at Braden River High, the Sarasota Sailors boys basketball team defeated the Pirates, 55-43, for B.J. Ivey’s 300th high school career coaching victory.

The victory was the Sailors’ 18th in 22 games, a huge step for a program that had won only 25 games the past three seasons.

The bulk of Ivey’s victories came at Riverview High, where he went 269-99 combined with the Rams’ girls and boys programs. After a stint as Director of Basketball Operations at Florida Gulf Coast University, he returned to the area at Out-of-Door Academy, where his teams went 13-26. Ivey returned to the Sarasota public school system this year and has prospered in his first season as Sailors head coach.

Ivey vies for victory No. 301 Thursday night at Booker High.
