NORTH PORT, Fla. (SNN TV) – You have an opportunity this week to impact Sarasota County’s action plan for natural disasters.

Sarasota County is a direct recipient of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery. The County will be awarded $201.5 million in funding to deliver unmet needs assistance related to impacts from Hurricane Ian. This will fund the newly created Sarasota County Program, Resilient SRQ. The projects involve disaster relief, long-term recovery, economic recovery, infrastructure and housing, and mitigation in the most impacted areas.

The City of North Port shared a press release urging residents to participate in this open comment period that lasts through Friday.
