SARASOTA – Dorian is predicted to impact the east coast of Florida as a category 4 storm.
Sarasota County Emergency Management Chief Ed McCrane says county officials have been working hand in hand with first responders to supply sandbags and help with prep around the county to make sure all are safe on the Suncoast.
“Tomorrow morning the county is going to declare a local state of emergency,” said McCrane. “It does not mean that a threat or emergency is imminent it means that it’s an administrative action that we take in order for us to be able to use emergency funds, and place resources in place quickly in the event that we do need to take action.”
McCrane says now is the moment to start preparing and to have a plan in case they are needed to evacuate.
