SARASOTA COUNTY – Sarasota County Commissioners will hold a special meeting next week to discuss CARES Act funding.
Sarasota County has received 18.9 million dollars, to assist those impacted from COVID-19 during the period of March through December.
County Commissioners have approved four potential categories for the disbursement of CARES act dollars including economic recovery for businesses, food, shelter, and water for citizens in the community, health and medical, as well as safety and security for the response and recovery from COVID-19.
“Review the needs assessment, the programs that are being recommended and obviously to get the board’s approval for those programs and input on what they feel those programs should look like as well,” said Sarasota County Emergency Services Director, Rich Collins. “Once that is done we will be able to hit the ground running and begin the development and completion in getting the programs out there and funding on the street,” said Collins.
Sarasota County commissioners will meet on Wednesday, August 19th.
