PALMETTO, Fla. (SNN TV) – The purchase of a prime property across the street from the city’s Riverside Boat Ramp was approved during a tense meeting Monday night.
According to the Herald Tribune, the Palmetto Community Redevelopment Agency approved a sale agreement to the Stadler Development for $2.95 million for the nearly 3.5-acre property on Riverside Drive.
The development company has proposed a seven-story multifamily housing project known as the “The Riverscape.”
The project grew after the company announced plans to purchase two neighboring parcels.
The project is across the street from the city-owned Riverside Boat Ramp.
As SNN has reported in the past, plans for the development have been vehemently opposed by community members, especially those who have used the property for years as overflow parking for boat trailers.
The Stadler Development project does include plans for 21 public boat trailer parking spaces.
