SARASOTA – A retired firefighter springs into action rescuing his neighbor after hearing a loud explosion.

Take a look at this clip sent to our media partners at the Herald-Tribune. It shows dozens of first responders battling a house fire in the 2200 block of Pine View Circle.

The battalion chief on scene tells SNN neighbors called 911 after hearing what sounded like a loud explosion and then seeing smoke coming from the roof.

A lighting is believed to have been the cause that engulfed the attic and roof of the home causing heavy damage. The battalion chief could not confirm lighting in the area was the cause of the fire.

No one was transported or injured. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
