SARASOTA (WSNN) – People on the Suncoast celebrate the new Resilient Retreat Center with a wall-signing event.

The Retreat is designed to empower survivors of abuse and trauma in the workplace to thrive through self-care and community.

Due to the rain Tuesday morning, the organization replaced its “Topping Off” celebration, with having people sign walls.

The last beam of the new Center was lifted into place before the rain.

For posterity, Two interior walls were signed by supporters, the construction team, architects, designers, and local dignitaries.

“It means a dream come true, not only for me as the founder but so many community members who’ve been struggling and really just challenged, especially during the pandemic,” Resilient Retreat Board Chair & Founder, Dr. Sidney Turner said. “And so the ability to be able to top off and create our center here and our community will life-changing.”

Since 2019 Resilient Retreat has treated over 400 trauma victims, including survivors of abuse, first responders, and helping professionals such as teachers and nurses.

The new center will be able to host 3 to 5 day retreats during the week.
