SARASOTA –  The Friendship Center in Sarasota is partnering up with STORY CORPS to preserve the stories of older generations through project Stonewall Out Loud.

The national effort hopes to inspire Americans of all ages to record personal stories of people within the LGBT community specifically those born before 1969.

“When I hear your story it makes me so happy for you,” said author Joan Alden. “So to hear you say that is just very complementary first of all and I thank you for that, but it touches me because it gives me a gift of feeling as though my life mattered.”

The goal of the project is to ensure that today’s generation understands the past in order to continue working on the future.
