NORTH PORT – A Port Charlotte woman has been arrested on 22 felony charges for conducting construction without a license.

“22 felony charges, no joke,” said North Port Police PIO, Josh Taylor.

63 year old Doreen Heneault was arrested for conducting construction without a license in the Wellen Park area.

“We’ve been looking into this for a while, we know that some documents were forged, handed in and some of that work was being done by un-licensed contractors,” said Taylor.

According to police, Heneault was filing permits without a license, filing documents with forged signatures and using a notary stamp improperly, attempting to defraud the State of Florida.

“She was running the business with her husband it appears, he passed away and she continued to do that work, there are certain laws in place, you have a certain set time that you can do that, like putting an extension in for a job that is already in place, but taking in new work, using a notary stamp that is not yours, and forging signatures with the notary stamp, a lot of things going on that shouldn’t have been,” said Taylor.

Heneault was charged with 11 counts of unlawfully filing false documents and 11 counts of uttering forged instruments.

“If were able to determine that you are acting illegally and doing these things without the proper credentials, using a notary stamp in the wrong way, were going to look into and investigate, 22 felonies is no joke and certainly there are big consequences here,” said Taylor.

Wellen Park is a 10,000-acre up and coming community located in the City of North Port.

Heneault was arrested in Charlotte County Monday and has since bonded out.
