SARASOTA COUNTY- Affordable housing is planned for the doctor’s Hospital site in Sarasota.
The Arlington Commons 233 living units – about 35 of them set aside for renters making the local median wage or less.
Before that happens, The landowners, the Kane Family Trust, and Casto Development, will need to convince local homeowners its whats good for the area and convince the city to increase the allowed density on that property.
That kind of zoning code is under discussion by city officials, but has not yet been enacted anywhere in Sarasota. A rendering of the proposed building’s contemporary design was unveiled at a community workshop Monday night.
Many in the Arlington Park neighborhood do not want the new modern feel it brings to the area’s mid-century feel and they are also worried about traffic.
