PITTSBURGH, Pa (SNN-TV) – Another new face will be in Bradenton this Spring, as the Pittsburgh Pirates today signed right-handed pitcher Vince Velasquez to a one-year contract.
Velasquez spent the entire 2022 campaign with the Chicago White Sox, where he went 3-3 with a 4.78 ERA, 69 strikeouts, 1.23 WHIP and .235 batting average against in 27 appearances, including nine starts. Velasquez, who has averaged nearly 10 strikeouts per 9 innings pitched during his big league career, was originally selected by Houston in the second round of the 2010 First-Year Player Draft.
With the addition, Pittsburgh’s 40-man roster is now full.
