SARASOTA – A Sarasota County woman is seriously injured in a house fire Sunday afternoon house fire. 

Neighbors told SNN they heard a woman screaming  “get a ladder, get a ladder.”  Within moments, Sarasota Sheriff’s deputies and Sarasota County fire arrived to find a woman trapped on the second floor of a two-story town house.

Firefighters broke through a second-floor door to rescue the woman.  Due to her injuries, she was flown to Blake Medical’s Center’s burn unit.  

All lanes of traffic on Palmer Ranch Parkway were shut down to allow Aeromed to land on the road.   

The call of the fire came in at about 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The home located in the 5300 block of Davini St., which is in the Village Walk community off Honore Ave., near Palmer Ranch Parkway. 

The state Fire Marshall is investigating the cause of the fire.
