LONGBOAT KEY – The crash happened just after 8 p.m. Friday night in the 1400 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive.
A white SUV and Semi Truck were involved. Both north and southbound lanes were closed for several hours while crew investigated the crash.
Sarasota Police Department is reporting the driver of the semi died and the driver of the SUV was taken to a local hospital as a trauma alert. No cause of the crash has been reported.
SPD has not released the identity of the victim.
