NORTH PORT – A suicide turns out to be a homicide in North Port.

“She had a great personality, nice smile, just a real pleasant person, but it turned into this,” said Neighbor of 3 years, David Beaulieu.

38-year-old Clinton Pittman has been charged with homicide, after the North Port Police Department was called to the 2200 block of Yancy St, Tuesday Morning for a possible suicide attempt.

“We quickly got on scene both fire and police, and rendered aid and got the individual to a local hospital but unfortunately she died,” said North Port Police Department, PIO, Josh Taylor.

Taylor says while detectives talked to the suspect, Clinton Pittman, he spun a story.

“And as the investigation went on throughout the course of the day, that story fell apart,” said Taylor.

Evidence on scene and surveillance video from a neighbor… “Didn’t cooperate with anything that he had suggested took place,” said Taylor.

Detectives were able to determine that this was not a self-inflicted incident, and charged Pittman with homicide, tampering with evidence and two counts of possession of firearm as a felon.

Neighbors say the suspect and victim fought a lot.

“At night it was an all-out battle, just fighting, yelling, that sort of thing, but no physical engagement at all, the neighbor down the street told me this morning that he wasn’t surprised about this…because he heard them fighting all the time, unfortunately, and I just knew they weren’t happy,” said Beaulieu.

Beaulieu says it’s hard to think of the kids she left behind

“I didn’t sleep well last night, obviously, thinking of that, her little four year old, they were so sweet, the 11 year old, I didn’t meet the older one, but they brought their 11 year old to school they came back, the four year old is in her bedroom, and this… it’s just heartbreaking, it’s terrible, it’s hard to even think about,” said Beaulieu.
