Not just the hottest July on record. It’s the hottest month, period.

NOAA released its monthly climate report Thursday morning. Global temperatures averaged 62.13 degrees, which is 1.71 degrees about the 20th-century average. That edges out July 2016 as the hottest July on record, but more significantly, it breaks the record for hottest month ever recorded.

Temperatures globally have trended up for the past century.
