SARASOTA – Walking over 25 stories above the ground, a long thirteen hundred feet of tight wire. Daredevil Nik Wallenda is back looking to do the unstoppable high above the New York skyline.

“This new walk is important to me for many, many reasons. One it’s been a dream of mine to do something major in New York City, really in honor on my family,” said Wallenda.

Wallenda and his sister Lijana Wallenda will both attempt to walk across Times Square for an upcoming two hour special this summer. It’ll be the first public performance for the siblings since the 2017 accident that nearly took Lijana’s and five other performance lives.

“My sister and I are going to break history and make history,” said Wallenda. “She fell from about 35 feet along with five other very close friends and family members, none of them should’ve survived, but it’s a miracle that all of them did it’s miracle that all of them are walking again.”

Wallenda’s families first performance in the U.S. was in Madison Square Gardens and he doesn’t want the fear of the accident to hold him or his family back from doing what they love.

“Anybody can overcome anything no matter what challenge they face, life or death, they can make it across the other side just like me and my sister will,” he said.

Wallenda says walking across Times Square is something to cross off his bucket list and will be practicing in Sarasota for the daring walk.

“New York City is a city that never sleeps and never stops my goal is to stop that city for at least 25 minutes as I’m on that wire,” said Wallenda.

The two-hour special is set to air June 23, a week after a potential Game 7 of the NBA Finals.
