NEW YORK (SNN-TV) – The NFL reported 106 players going on the COVID list across the league Monday, roughly doubling the previous single-day league record.

The Buccaneers Week 17 opponent the New York Jets are among many teams that have been hit hard, with more than 20 players on the list.

Even more big names across the league were added to the COVID list today, including Titans receiver Julio Jones, Patriots linebacker Matt Judon and Buccaneers receiver Mike Evans.

As the omicron variant continues to rage, sports leagues and the federal government have changed their policies for COVID-positive people.

The NFL has said that vaccinated asymptomatic players can test off the COVID list with two negative tests, while unvaccinated players have to isolate for ten days.

On Monday, the CDC shortened the isolation period after testing positive — regardless of vaccination status — from ten to five days.
