VENICE, Fla. (SNN) — A developer plans to replace three homes with 216 apartments in Venice. The new apartment complex would be on Twin Laurel Boulevard near Sarasota Memorial’s Venice campus.

The Herald-Tribune reports the proposed apartment complex calls for eight three-story apartment buildings. The apartments would have one to three bedrooms.

Vision Planning & Design will host an online neighborhood workshop about the proposal on Tuesday. The developer is seeking a change to Sarasota County’s growth plan, a zoning change and an amendment to the county’s I-75 Corridor Plan to go forward.

The growth plan amendment would change the zoning from low density to high density and from one residence per five acres to 13 units per acre.
