SARASOTA – Motorcyclists from the Suncoast revved their engines at a run for a good cause.
Motorcyclists hit the streets Sunday morning for the 23rd annual St. Patty’s Poker Run benefitting dogs and cats of the Humane Society of Sarasota County.
“Everyone starts here at registration, and they draw two cards and then they go to the next three stops and they get a different colored bean at each stop, and when they get to the last stop they’ll have all the beans they’ll turn in that shows all the stops and they pull the last three cards to complete their poker hand,” said Event Coordinator, Donna DeFant.
All of the money raised at the poker run goes towards the Humane Society
“Funds that they raise, and really any funds that we raise go to housing, all the animals that come to us need shelter, food, medical treatment,” said Director of Community Outreach at HSSC, Ginny Armington.
Event coordinator, Donna DeFant, says she appreciates the riders.
“They love to do things, like ride for a great cause, so they come out every year to do this event, they love to ride and raise a little money and do good at the same time, it’s a win-win for everybody,” said DeFant.
“We give motorcycles a good name, because we do in fact volunteer, that’s our whole mission, is to ride and to help,” said Secretary with the Manasota HOG Chapter, David Ragland.
