SARASOTA (SNN-TV) – Major League Baseball announced the 2024 Cactus and Grapefruit League Spring Training schedules today, which of course, includes the four teams that train on the Suncoast.
Baltimore Orioles
The Baltimore Orioles slate is set to begin Saturday, February 24TH, at Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota against the Red Sox.
The O’s will face nine different opponents during Grapefruit League play, with 13 of the club’s 32 games against American League East divisional rivals.
The Orioles will play a spring-high six games against the Pittsburgh Pirates, three of which will be at Ed Smith Stadium. The 2024 season will mark the Orioles’ 15th Spring Training season in Sarasota and the club’s 14th season at the renovated Ed Smith Stadium.
Pittsburgh Pirates
The Pittburgh Pirates schedule includes a total of 31 games, 16 of which will be at played at LECOM Park in Bradenton.
Opening Day of the Pirates Grapefruit League season will be on Saturday, February 24, as the team travels to Fort Myers to take on the Minnesota Twins.
The Pirates will then play three of their next four games at LECOM Park, beginning with their Home Opener on Sunday, February 25 against the Baltimore Orioles.
Atlanta Braves
The Atlanta Braves’ fifth spring season played at CoolToday Park will feature 16 home games.
Atlanta’s 32-game exhibition slate begins with their home opener on Sunday, February 25th against the Boston Red Sox.
The Braves will host nine different teams at CoolToday Park. The Grapefruit League schedule will wrap up for the Braves on March 26th at Hammond Stadium against the Minnesota Twins.
Tampa Bay Rays
The Rays are pleased to announce that their Spring Training games will return to Charlotte Sports Park in Port Charlotte for the 2024 Spring Season, kicking off their season on Saturday, February 24th.
Additionally, the Rays will travel to the Dominican Republic for the first time in franchise history for two exhibition games against the Boston Red Sox on Saturday, March 9th and Sunday, March 10th.
