LOS ANGELES, CA (SNN-TV) – With the MLB Draft wrapping up earlier today, several talents on the Suncoast and in the Sunshine State were selected.

IMG Academy catcher Brady Neal joins Tayden Hall and Satchell Norman as catchers drafted by Milwaukee. Hall played for State College of Florida (Bradenton), while Norman played at Sarasota High School and Florida Southwestern State (Fort Myers).

Another IMG Academy star, SS JeanPierre Ortiz, may possibly join teammate Elijah Green on the Washington Nationals.

One of the “tallest tales” is that of left-handed pitcher Jared Beck (Saint Leo University), the Orioles 13th round pick. At 7-foot tall, Beck can become the tallest player in MLB history. San Francisco Giants rookie Sean Hjelle and retired reliever Jon Rauch, are the tallest players in MLB history at 6-foot-11.

Lastly, in a shocking occurrence, Venice High School shortstop, Marek Houston, went undrafted. Nonetheless, Houston is committed to play in Winston-Salem, NC for Wake Forest University.
