SARASOTA – Across the U.S. several states have signed into law restrictive abortion bills banning women more than six weeks pregnant from getting an abortion.
Here on Suncoast dozens of men and women marched and voiced their opinions against the recent abortion ban bills.
22-year-old Paris Luker organized the event reaching out on Facebook inviting others to join the march. Luker says she organized the march to tell government officials to stop passing laws controlling women’s bodies.
“This is about basic fundamental human rights and women deserve that,” said Luker. “People in numbers they speak. If people see the amount of people out here stressing the importance of this then it means something, people see that. Maybe it’ll change somebodies mind.”
The group marched over the Ringling Bridge and back to Marina Jacks. Luker says she plans on organizing similar event in the future.
