SUNRISE, FL (SNN-TV) – The Toronto Maple Leafs avoided elimination when they defeated the Florida Panthers 2-1 in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Second Round at FLA Live Arena tonight.

Joseph Woll made 24 saves in his first NHL playoff start, Mitchell Marner had a goal and an assist, and William Nylander scored for the Maple Leafs, the second seed from the Atlantic Division.

Woll, a rookie, started in place of Ilya Samsonov, who sustained an upper-body injury 37 seconds into the second period of Toronto’s 3-2 overtime loss in Game 3 on Sunday. Sam Reinhart scored, and Sergei Bobrovsky made 23 saves for the Panthers, the second wild card in the East.

Florida still leads the best-of-seven series 3-1. Game 5 will be Friday in Toronto.
