MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. (SNN TV) – Manatee County will host a meeting for upcoming improvements on Honore Avenue, including a proposed roundabout.
Manatee County posted on Facebook that improvements are planned to begin this fall at the intersection of Honore Avenue and Old Farm Road.
The project includes a roundabout with pedestrian ramps, crosswalks with Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs), pavement resurfacing of all approach lanes, lighting and reapplying pavement markings.
On its website, Manatee County wrote the purpose of the proposals, saying that “under the existing conditions, the intersection of Honore Avenue and Old Farm Road is controlled by stop signs for all the approaches. During the peak periods, the intersection does not operate efficiently as the traffic entering the intersection has to stop before proceeding. There [has] been a steady growth of traffic in the area and this growth is expected to continue with the ongoing residential developments in the area. Staff is proposing to install a roundabout at this location which [is] expected to improve the overall operations and safety of the vehicles, pedestrians, and bicyclists.”
The meeting will take place Thursday, September 21 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. It’ll be hosted at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church at 7461 Prospect Road in Sarasota.
