BRADENTON, Fla. (SNN TV) – A special collection service for hazardous waste in Manatee County homes will be held next week.

The Manatee County Government posted that the collection will allow you to dispose of common household products that are labeled as flammable, toxic, corrosive, reactive or explosive.

Disposable items include gasoline, antifreeze, fertilizer, fluorescent bulbs, motor oil, weed killer, propane tanks, non-empty aerosols, and rechargeable batteries, among others.

The mobile site will be set up at 4410 66th Street West in Bradenton from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It can also be dropped off at the Lena Road Landfill at 3333 Lena Road Mondays through Fridays.

How to Safely Transport Household Hazardous Waste:

  • Transport items in the trunk or rear of your vehicle in sturdy boxes or containers that can be thrown away. Consider lining boxes with kitty litter or an open garbage bag to ensure your items don’t leak into your vehicle.
  • Dont mix products.
  • Try to keep products in original containers. If they aren’t in the original containers, please label.
  • Secure products so they won’t leak!
  • Store products away from the passenger compartment of your vehicle.
  • Dont store products in the trunk of your car before bringing them to the collection.
